Defined Partitioned Market Areas

Partition Market Areas-for call signs marked as Partition Only

This page is displayed for call signs that are marked as a Partitioned call sign for defined areas. Use this page to select the defined areas to be partitioned.

The highest level partitionable market areas for the selected call sign are displayed. Underneath the market areas are hyperlinks, which are used to expand and display the defined areas belonging to the high level market areas. Only one hyperlink may be expanded and displayed at any one point in time. Clicking one hyperlink while another hyperlink is expanded will cause the expanded hyperlink to contract and the new hyperlink to expand.

This page contains check boxes. More than one defined area may be selected for partitioning. Defined areas are partitioned by selecting the check boxes next to the desired defined area, entering the population for that defined market area by using figures from either the 1990 or 2000 US Federal Census figures, indicating the year of the census, and pressing the Partition Selected Market Areas' button. Partitions may be made at the market level, meaning all defined areas attached to that market area (e.g., counties) are partitioned along with the market area. Partitions may also be made at the lower defined area level, meaning only that defined area is partitioned. In either case, once an area is partitioned the check box for that area will no longer be displayed. In a case where all lower level defined areas have been partitioned, the higher level market area check box will also no longer be displayed. This is to prevent an area from being partitioned more than once in the same Assignment.

If the applicant has completed all desired partitions, they may proceed to the Partition and Disaggregation Information Summary page, which will list all partitions and/or disaggregations made thus far in the application. An area that has been marked as partitioned can be "unassigned" (deleted from the application) from the Partition and Disaggregation Information Summary page. From this page the applicant may also return to the list of call signs to perform additional partition assignments by selecting the Select Another Call Sign" button. Once you have completed partitioning of all of the desired market areas for this call sign, click Finish This Call Sign.

Partition Market Areas - for call signs marked as a combination Partition AND Disaggregation

This page is displayed for call signs that are marked as a combination partitioned AND disaggregated for defined areas.

Clicking on a hyperlink while another hyperlink is expanded will cause the expanded hyperlink to contract and the new hyperlink to expand.

This page contains radio buttons. Only one defined area may be selected for partitioning. Defined areas are partitioned by completing the radio button next to the desired defined area and pressing the Continue' button. A partition may be made at the market level, meaning all defined areas attached to that market area (e.g., counties) are partitioned along with the market area. A partition may also be made at the lower defined area level, meaning only that defined area is partitioned. In either case, once an area is partitioned the radio button for that area will no longer be displayed. This is to prevent an area from being partitioned more than once in the same Assignment.

Once the applicant has completed the desired partition and select Continue, they are taken to select the spectrum to be disaggregated, and then to the population data. From there, they may proceed to the Partition and Disaggregation Information Summary page, which will list all partitions and/or disaggregations made thus far in the application. An area that has been partitioned and disaggregated may be "unassigned" (deleted from the application) from the Partition and Disaggregation Information Summary page. From this page the applicant may also return to the list of call signs and not complete the partitioning of this call sign, by selecting the Cancel button.
